Excellence Award Criteria Checklist

Judges use the Excellence Award Criteria Checklist to confirm which teams at an event meet the eligibility criteria for the Excellence Award. It is written for Judge Advisors and judges preparing for award deliberations at a VEX Robotics Competition event.

Definitions of the terms used here are maintained in the central glossary.

For descriptions of the Excellence Award and the other awards, see Award Descriptions.

The checklist is a summary of the overall Excellence Award description. Teams must satisfy all requirements to be eligible for the award, and teams that do not run skills are given a score of zero for ranking purposes.

The criteria on the checklist cover a team's standing in the overall Skills, Autonomous Coding Skills, and Qualification Rankings at the event; the quality of the Team Interview and the Engineering Notebook; independent inquiry demonstrated across both from the beginning of the design process through execution; nomination or ranking for multiple other Judged Awards; and positive, student-centered team conduct, good sportsmanship, and professionalism.

Each printable sheet includes two copies of the checklist. Print it and use it during award deliberations. Download the checklist below to get started.
