Getting a Smart Field Controller

Smart Field Control is required to run VEX V5 Robotics Competition matches – every Match Field and Robot Skills Field needs a Smart Field Controller connected and running before a match or Skills attempt can start.

Smart Field Control is the software that turns the Field on and off at the right times, tracks match time, and reports each robot's radio connection, battery level, and whether its program is running, so referees can confirm every robot is ready to begin the match.

A Smart Field Controller kit gives you everything you need to run Smart Field Control at one Field. This article covers which kit you should order.

Which Kit to Order

You need one kit for each Match Field and Robot Skills Field at your event. All three kits include the same Smart Field Controller and field control cables – the only difference between them is the power adapter, which is built for the plug type and voltage used where you'll be running your event. Order the kit that matches where your event is held.
