This article covers checking and updating the firmware on a Smart Field Controller.
It is written for Event Partners setting up or maintaining a Smart Field Controller.

Connect the Smart Field Controller to your computer using a USB cable, and make sure it's powered on with a charged battery so it doesn't lose power during the check.
Open VEXcode and connect to the Smart Field Controller. If its firmware isn't already up to date, VEXcode will begin to update it automatically.
