This article explains how teams submit a digital engineering notebook on events.vex.com, including how to submit your notebook link, update it during the season, and stay eligible for judged awards at events with remote judging formats. It is written for teams and their coaches.
Definitions of the terms used here are maintained in the central glossary.
For more on registering for events, see Registering for an Event.
Some events use a remote judging format. If your team is registered for an event with the judging format of Remote Engineering Notebooks or Remote Interviews & Notebooks, your team must submit a digital engineering notebook by a specified date prior to the event to be eligible for judged awards. The event's judging format and submission deadline are listed on the event's page.
A team submits one notebook link per season. The same link applies to every event the team is registered for that season, and the link can be updated at any time as the notebook grows. Each event with a remote judging format has its own submission deadline, and judges evaluate the notebook content as it exists at that deadline.
On events.vex.com select Login in the upper-right of the page.
Enter your login credentials and select Login.
Submitting the Notebook Link
From your dashboard, in the same row as your team number, select Digital Engineering Notebook.
Paste the link to the digital engineering notebook into the Link to Digital Engineering Notebook box.
Select the language that the notebook is written in.
Select Save to submit the digital engineering notebook link.
After Submission
After your digital engineering notebook has been submitted:
- The notebook can be accessed by the Event Partner and Judge Advisor.
- Your team's notebook will be viewed and judged after the submission deadline for each event.
Updating Your Notebook Link
Teams can continually update their digital notebooks on an ongoing basis. To update the link on file, follow the same steps used to submit it and select Save. Be aware that while you can update the link in the system at any time, judges are only expected to evaluate the notebook content present at the time of the event's submission deadline, and later changes might not be regraded for scoring.
Best Practices
- Check the judging format when registering for an event. If it requires a digital engineering notebook, check the submission deadline on the event's page and ensure you meet it.
- Confirm the notebook is unrestricted and can be accessed through the link.
- Check that the link goes to the most recent version of the notebook.
- Verify that the notebook is submitted for the correct team number.
